| The Professional Dance Academy of Montgomery County was founded in November 1985 by husband and wife Dr. Morley Leyton and Monique Legaré.
Our Goal: The goal of the Academy is to provide quality dance training to students of age 5 to 85. The Academy is open year round to provide the adult body and the serious student on going training. Therefore the Academy holds classical Ballet classes as its main curriculum. The faculty is composed of 3 professional teachers: Monique Legaré from Les Grands Ballets Canadiens, Joan Beard from the Royal Academy of Dancing, and Kathleen Carlin former member of the Lotte Goshlar Pantomime Circus, who trained in New York with the American School of Ballet. In addition this year, Jennifer Di Antonio is joining our faculty. Our Services: Besides the regular scheduled classes, the Academy provides many types of services: Training, counseling, coaching, choreography, audition preparation, wedding support, special needs support and performing. Private lessons are available in the area of classical Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Social dancing including Slow Dancing, Nigh Club Two Step, Fox Trot, Waltz, Rumba, Cha-cha, Tango, Viennese Waltz, Swing, Merengue, Salsa, Polka, Line Dance and Folk Dances from more than 20 countries. Performing Companies: Two performing Dance Companies are in residence at the Academy: The Janosik Polish Dance Ensemble founded by Dr. Morley Leyton in 1971 and the Monique Legaré International Dance Company founded in 1986 by Monique Legaré. Each Company performs an average of 12-15 performances a year. New members are welcome to join year-round. About our Building: The Academy is located in Willow Grove PA in the residential location previously occupied by the Lehman Studio of Dance. A suspended wooden floor was added when the studio opened on 1985. The studio was totally renovated in 2002 and is now equipped with a new suspended wooden floor, high ceiling, high mirrors, air condition system, dehumidifier, sound panels and encased sound system. |
